Automatic transfer of remaining vacation days to the following year

In WILSON, you can define whether unused vacation days from one calendar year should automatically be carried over into the next year.

You can find this setting under:

Settings > Company Settings > Absences

There, you can activate the function using a simple toggle. Once saved, the setting applies company-wide to all employees.

Functionality and system behavior

When the setting is active, any remaining vacation days from the previous year are automatically included in the calculation of the current leave balance.

In the leave allocation editor (Employees > Vacation Management > Edit Allocation), you will see a read-only field labeled "Carried over from last year". This field displays the carried-over value.

Mobile view

In the mobile app under Profile > Absences, the automatically transferred value is also correctly reflected in the leave balance. This gives your employees a consistent overview across all devices.

Important limitation of this feature

This setting only handles the carry-over of vacation days. It does not include any additional business logic, such as the automatic expiration of carried-over days after a specific period.
If your organization applies such internal rules, you will still need to adjust the leave balance manually – for example, by entering a negative value to reduce the entitlement.

Effective date

The setting will take effect for the first time with the transition from 2025 to 2026. For all previous years, enabling the setting has no impact.
